CHAPTER 5 – THIS IS (NOT) A FAMILY ALBUM

This is (not) a family album is a personal series in which I use everyday iPhone snapshots of my children, collected over the years.

Through these images, I explore the boundaries of both the photographic medium and the subject itself. I search for contemporary, sometimes absurdist fragments—far removed from the traditional family portrait as we know it—yet still containing a certain degree of intimacy.

I endlessly manipulate the image: extracting details, editing them, enlarging them, and rephotographing them. This process transforms the image; it acquires a raw, honest quality. At times, the images become pixelated, which only enhances their painterly effect.

What emerges is not a traditional family album, but a visual translation of everyday family life—seen and shaped through my artistic eye.
